Anthropic researchers measured the persuasiveness of their language models across three generations (Claude 1, 2, and 3) and two classes (compact and frontier models).
They found a clear scaling trend - each successive model generation was rated more persuasive than the previous one.
The Claude 3 Opus model, Anthropic's latest and most capable model, produced arguments that were statistically indistinguishable in persuasiveness from human-written arguments.
