Siri Is Getting An Upgrade…

Apple researchers have developed a new AI system called ReALM (Reference Resolution As Language Modeling) that can significantly improve the context-awareness and conversational abilities of voice assistants like Siri.

The Details:

• ReALM uses a novel approach to converting visual information on a user's screen, conversational context, and background processes into a text-based representation that large language models can better understand.

• This allows ReALM to resolve ambiguous references and understand the full context of a user's request, going beyond just the literal words spoken.

• Apple's testing shows that even small ReALM models can perform comparably to or better than OpenAI's powerful GPT-4 model on certain tasks, despite having far fewer parameters.

• The improved context-awareness could enable more natural and efficient interactions with voice assistants, like being able to refer to on-screen elements or background activities.

You can now use ChatGPT without an account.

OpenAI has announced that users can now access the free version of ChatGPT without needing to create an account.

The details:

• Users can directly access ChatGPT from the OpenAI website without signing up through Google, Microsoft, or Apple.

• While anonymous users can chat with ChatGPT, they will not have access to features like saving chat history, sharing chats, and voice conversations, which require an account.

• OpenAI has introduced additional content safeguards for users accessing ChatGPT without an account, blocking prompts and generations in a wider range of categories.

The DALL·E editor interface enables you to edit images by selecting an area of the image to edit and describing your changes in chat. You can also provide a prompt with your desired edit in the conversation panel, without using the selection tool.

The Details:

• The DALL-E editor interface allows users to edit images in two main ways:

  • Highlighting a specific area of the image and providing a text prompt to describe the desired changes to that area.

  • Providing a text prompt in the conversation panel to make general edits to the entire image, without using the selection tool.

• The editor interface provides tools to adjust the size of the selection area, undo/redo selections, and clear the selection entirely.

• Edits can involve adding, removing, or updating elements of the image. Users can save their edited creations.
