AI ON MY MIND

Happy Thursday,

I just dropped a new video on YouTube. You NEED to check this out if you even have the slightest interest in AI Agents.

By the way, I've been getting questions about how AI works in practice, so I'm launching a separate newsletter that dives deeper into real business applications and practical advice. [Click here if you're interested].

TODAY’S TOP STORIES

OpenAI Comes for Microsoft Office

The Recap: OpenAI is reportedly developing new ChatGPT agents that can natively create and edit spreadsheets and presentations, positioning it to compete directly with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.

Unpacked:

  • The new tools will allow you to generate spreadsheets and presentations using natural language prompts directly from dedicated buttons in the ChatGPT interface.

  • Outputted files will be compatible with Microsoft's open-source formats, enabling users to open and use them in common business applications.

  • An early tester reported the agents are currently slow and buggy, with a single task taking up to thirty minutes to process.

Bottom line: This move signals OpenAI's ambition to expand beyond a chatbot and embed its AI directly into core business workflows. To successfully challenge established products, however, the performance and reliability must improve significantly from its current early stages.

AI Video Breaks the 60-Second Barrier

The Recap: Lightricks just updated its open-weight LTXV model, allowing creators to generate videos over 60 seconds long in real-time on standard consumer GPUs.

Unpacked:

  • The model streams video live as it generates, returning the first second instantly while building scenes continuously without cuts.

  • Users can apply control inputs during generation, adjusting elements like pose and style mid-stream for dynamic scene evolution.

  • LTXV is trained on fully licensed data and is available as an open-source project, with versions for both standard and mobile-friendly devices.

Bottom line: With most video models limited to just a few seconds, LTXV’s real-time, minute-long generation changes what is possible for creators. This shifts the workflow from piecing together short clips to directing longer scenes as they unfold.

MY FAVORITE AI TOOLS

Relevance is my favorite AI tool right now (even more so than N8N).

Here’s why:

It’s an AI agent building tool that doesn’t require you to build out the logic using nodes. Instead, you use natural language to build out these agents. But the best thing imo is that you can build AI Agent teams.

Like agents talking to each other completing a goal until its done. It’s nuts. No other tool on the market is doing this. You have to check it out.

MORE STORIES

The AI Boom Is Just Getting Started

The Recap: Chip giant TSMC posted a record-breaking 60% surge in quarterly profit, smashing forecasts. The historic results are fueled by the unrelenting demand for advanced AI processors from clients like Nvidia and Apple.

Unpacked:

  • High-performance computing, the division that includes AI applications, was the primary growth engine, contributing 60% of total revenue.

  • The most advanced chips are in the highest demand, with 7-nanometer and smaller technologies now accounting for 74% of the company’s total wafer revenue.

  • Looking ahead, TSMC projects its full-year revenue will grow by around 30%, a strong signal that the hardware race powering AI is accelerating, not slowing down.

Bottom line: The hardware that enables the current AI explosion is an incredibly profitable industry in its own right. These results are a clear indicator that the foundational layer of the AI economy is scaling rapidly to meet enormous demand.

The AI-Powered Drug Pipeline

The Recap: A new wave of biotech companies are using AI to drastically shorten the multi-billion dollar path to drug discovery. Firms like Recursion and Insilico are leading the pack, with the first AI-designed drug candidates now advancing into human trials.

Unpacked:

  • Traditional drug discovery is notoriously slow and expensive, often taking more than a decade with a high failure rate before a drug ever reaches patients.

  • Companies are building AI platforms to predict how molecules will behave and interact with biological targets, aiming to identify promising drug candidates in a fraction of the time.

  • This effort is moving beyond theory, as several AI-discovered drug candidates are now progressing through human trials, a critical milestone for validating the technology.

Bottom line: This AI-driven approach could unlock new treatments for diseases previously considered too complex or expensive to tackle. The success of these initial trials will serve as a crucial benchmark for AI's potential to reshape the future of medicine.
