AI ON MY MIND
Happy Friday!
You’ve made it to the weekend—well done!
If you’re following me on Twitter (and if you’re not, now’s a great time to start), you’ve probably seen me talking about my experience with Bolt.new.
Since I started sharing, I’ve had tons of messages from people thanking me for introducing them to this incredible tool. Many had no idea this world existed—and honestly, neither did I until last week. But now? I can’t stop using it.
One person who reached out had zero experience with AI coding but managed to build a LinkedIn posting app just by brainstorming ideas with AI.
It’s wild what’s possible when you combine creativity with the right tools.
The greatest time to be alive is right now!

TODAY’S TOP STORIES
💻 OpenAI Considering Taking On Google
OpenAI is exploring the development of a ChatGPT-powered web browser to challenge Google Chrome's market dominance, with the company already hiring former Chrome developers and discussing potential partnerships with major platforms like Condé Nast and Priceline. The initiative comes amid Google's antitrust challenges, with the U.S. Department of Justice investigating potential forced divestment of Chrome browser.
While still in early stages, OpenAI is simultaneously advancing deals to integrate AI-powered search features across various platforms and discussing potential collaboration with Samsung to incorporate AI features into their devices.
OpenAI has recruited key Chrome developers Ben Goodger and Darin Fisher, signaling serious intent to compete in the browser market.
The company is developing its "Natural Language Web" technology to enable conversational search features on partner websites and applications.
The browser project coincides with OpenAI's existing partnerships with Apple for 'Apple Intelligence' features and potential collaboration with Samsung.
🚨 OpenAI accidentally deleted potential evidence in NY Times copyright lawsuit
OpenAI engineers accidentally deleted crucial search data from a virtual machine being used in The New York Times and Daily News copyright lawsuit, where the publishers are investigating potential unauthorized use of their content in AI model training.
While some data was recovered, the loss of folder structure and file names means the recovered information cannot effectively show how the publishers' articles were used in building OpenAI's models.
The incident has forced the plaintiffs to restart their investigation from scratch, requiring significant time and resources to recreate their work.
OpenAI had provided two virtual machines for publishers to search training datasets, with legal teams spending over 150 hours on the investigation since November 11.
While the deletion wasn't believed to be intentional, it highlights the publishers' argument that OpenAI should handle dataset searches using their own tools.
OpenAI maintains its position that training models on publicly available data constitutes fair use, though they've secured licensing deals with several major publishers including AP and Axel Springer.
🤯 US government commission pushes Manhattan Project-style AI initiative
Apple plans to launch an LLM-powered Siri with iOS 19, but users will need to wait until spring 2026 for the actual release, prioritizing privacy and on-device processing over rapid deployment.
The company aims to create a more intelligent assistant that can access personal data stored locally while maintaining strong privacy protections, unlike competitors who freely use cloud-based data.
Despite the frustrating wait since Siri's 2011 beta launch, Apple's approach focuses on building a privacy-first AI assistant that can match competitors' capabilities without compromising user data.
The new Siri features will be announced in 2025 as part of iOS 19 and macOS 16, internally codenamed Luck and Cheer.
Current iOS 18 Siri improvements have been modest, contrary to Apple's "new era" marketing claims.
Apple's strategy involves using on-device data from native apps like Calendar, Health, and Messages, with optional third-party app integration.
