NVIDIA has been accused of secretly scraping copyrighted content from YouTube, Netflix, and academic datasets to train its AI models without permission. The company is now facing a class action lawsuit from authors claiming NVIDIA used their content to train its NeMo conversational AI toolkit.

NVIDIA employees were reportedly instructed to download videos from various sources, including datasets only meant for academic use, to develop commercial AI projects.
Some authors allege that NVIDIA copied the entire "Bibliotek" shadow library containing nearly 200,000 pirated books to train NeMo models.
NVIDIA claims its research complies with copyright law, equating the practice to a person's right to learn from another source and create their own expression.

Elon Musk's X platform is facing criticism from secretaries of state over its Grok AI chatbot spreading election misinformation about Kamala Harris's 2024 presidential candidacy.

Grok falsely claimed that ballot deadlines had passed in several states, preventing Harris from running there.
The misinformation reached millions of users on X before being corrected after 10 days.
Secretaries of state from 5 affected states are urging Musk to fix Grok and provide accurate election information.

AI chip startup Groq has raised a whopping $640 million to take on Nvidia in the red-hot generative AI market. The funding round, which values Groq at $2.8 billion, will help the company scale its speedy and efficient LPU (language processing unit) chips and GroqCloud platform.

Groq's LPUs can allegedly run generative AI models like ChatGPT 10x faster using one-tenth the energy compared to conventional processors.
The startup has some big names on board, including Meta's AI chief Yann LeCun as a technical advisor and ex-Intel exec Stuart Pann as COO.
Groq is investing heavily in enterprise and government partnerships, with plans to deploy over 108,000 LPUs by early 2025.
