AI ON MY MIND
Happy Thursday!
If you read this newsletter daily then you’d know that I’m a serial vibe coder. Meaning I build apps and tools with AI. One of the tools I use everyday is called Cursor.
Similar to Bolt.new, Cursor allows you to chat with it and it will code on your behalf.
But the Cursor-like experience is expanding outside of just coding.
I’ve been tracking how people are actually using it—and what they’re building because of it. What started as a tool for writing better code is now showing up in places you wouldn’t expect: like editing videos, writing emails or video scripts.
For example like Descript announcing they are releasing “Cursor for video editing”.
The idea of “Cursor for…” is what I call Software 3.0.
It’s software that starts with AI at the core with AI agents doing the heavy lifting.

Just go on X and type in “Cursor for” and you’ll see more examples.
What connects all of it?
You’re not just typing. You’re thinking with the tool.
You’re not toggling between apps. The tool shapes to what you need.
We’re early. But it’s already clear: this isn’t just a trend. It’s a new format.

TODAY’S TOP STORIES

1 big thing: Voice Wars - Dia Open-Source TTS Challenges ElevenLabs
Dia is an open-source text-to-speech model that just dropped—and it's a big deal.
Why it matters: Dia supports 12 languages and gives devs a real alternative to the closed-off, pay-to-play voice AI tools. It’s pushing for more access, more transparency, and fewer gatekeepers.
Driving the news: Researchers at Johns Hopkins built Dia to prioritize accessibility and ethics in voice generation.
The multilingual setup expands who can use it right away
The source code is fully open and reproducible—no mystery boxes
Zoom in:
You can already use Dia to prototype, test, or ship real features
“The open-source nature allows for community-driven improvements and accountability,” said a project contributor
Yes, but: Open-source tools usually don’t come with massive funding or marketing pushes. So adoption might take longer.
Be smart: This model puts pressure on players like ElevenLabs. Smaller companies now have a chance to build without paying heavy license fees or getting boxed out.
The bottom line: Dia shows where TTS is headed—toward more openness, flexibility, and dev-first tools. And that’s good news for anyone building in this space. But also means more bad actors. So be careful.

OpenAI Launches GPT-Image-1 API for Developers
ChatGPT finally released their 4o model via their api.
Why it matters: This turns ChatGPT’s viral image generation into a backend tool that devs can build into their own apps, sites, and products.
What we found: OpenAI released GPT-Image-1 through its API. This is the same model used for generating images inside ChatGPT. Now it's available as a standalone service for developers and businesses.
How it works:
You send a prompt through the API. GPT-Image-1 generates an image.
Pricing is split by token type:
$5 per million text tokens
$10 per million image input tokens
$40 per million image output tokens
It can handle different styles, follow specific instructions, and even render text properly in images.
Yes, but: Demand is already intense. OpenAI’s GPUs are under strain. CEO Sam Altman joked they’re “melting.”
The bottom line: If you’re building a product that needs on-the-fly visuals—custom graphics, logos, ads, or marketing assets—this is now a plug-and-play option.
