🤖 OpenAI’s new updates to ChatGPT…

The rumors keep flying on what OpenAI will announce today since Sam Altman revealed that the ChatGPT search won’t be coming anytime soon.

People say OpenAI is working on an AI voice assistant that could rival offerings from Google and Apple.

📫️ The details:

• GPT-4o enhances interaction across multiple modalities including voice, text, and vision, aiming to redefine how we interact with machines.

• The model boasts improvements such as being multilingual in approximately 50 languages, faster processing speeds, and cost efficiency compared to its predecessors.

• Initially, GPT-4o's voice capabilities will be available to a select group of trusted partners, with broader rollouts planned for the near future.

• GPT-4o is 50% faster than GPT-4 (specifically GPT-4 Turbo), 50% cheaper and has higher rate limits.

Other announcements:

• GPT-4o is available for everyone to use for free

• The GPT store is now available to everyone to use for free

• Users of ChatGPT Plus will have five times more message capacity than free users, and clients of ChatGPT Team and Enterprise will have even greater usage limits.

🧠 Our thoughts:

If we’re honest, we were expecting a bit more from the OpenAI team after how much they hyped up this announcement.

The voice function was cool, but it did seem a bit laggy and buggy.

We were hoping for GPT search, but we’ll have to wait to see if that ever comes to fruition.

✨ The Power of AI Mini Apps & Deciding When’s The Right Time To Make One

When we think of AI, it’s easy to get caught up in visions of futuristic robots or highly complex systems that revolutionize entire industries.

However, the real magic often lies in the small, almost invisible applications that seamlessly integrate into our daily routines.

These mini AI apps, particularly those used internally, can significantly shift how we approach our work, solving 30-70% of tasks and demonstrating why we need to think differently about AI.

Consider a common, monotonous task: copying and pasting URLs into a spreadsheet.

At first glance, this might seem too minor for AI intervention.

Yet, it’s precisely these routine activities where AI can make the most immediate impact.

We faced this repetitive chore daily until we decided to experiment with AI.

By creating a Chrome extension using AI that automatically sends URLs to an Airtable database, I eliminated the need for manual entry.

Further integrating Zapier and the Perplexity API enabled automatic summarization of these URLs, cutting the task time from five minutes to just one.

Tools like Zapier and Make make AI automation a breeze.

Identifying repetitive and time-consuming tasks is the first step in deciding when to create an AI mini-app.

Ask yourself: Is this task boring or tedious? Does it eat up time that could be better spent on strategic activities? 

If the answer is yes, it’s a prime candidate for automation.

This experience isn’t unique; it highlights a broader principle.
