Issue:
Google Gets Called Out
Hey, AI’ers. Welcome back!
Have you noticed that ChatGPT has not been giving you the best responses in the last few days? Yeah, you’re not alone.
There have been several outages that have caused some issues.
OpenAI is said to have fixed the issue.

Gemini Is Said To Be Woke
✨ Google Gets Called Out
Google’s Gemini has caused a frenzy online and not for a good reason.
They have been accused of what’s called prompt injecting.
Allegedly, when a user enters an image prompt into Gemini’s AI model, has a set of rules where it is specifically told to edit the prompt you provide to include diversity and various other things that Google wants injected in your prompt.
The language model takes your prompt, runs it through these set of rules, and then sends the newly generated prompt (which you cannot access or see) to the image generator.
Again, allegedly.
For example:
When asked to generate an image of the original founding fathers, it created one image of superheroes (totally not relevant) and a second image of what looks to be Founding Fathers, but they included a black person in the back.
Now one can argue that the prompt wasn’t specific enough and that the image is made up, so who cares?
The problem lies in trust. People trust Google to serve accurate information. This will be no different for Gemini as well.
So when Google, who holds the keys to how the AI model performs, doesn’t provide accurate information or depictions of historical events we know happened, there is reason for people to be up in arms.
Google claims they are developing responsible AI practices, but we should be worried when any company, OpenAI included, has the ability to change their models to spread falsehoods.
This is why open-source models are important…because, in those instances, no one company owns the code or models.
Contributors can work on the models without the mega-corporation responsibilities to stakeholders.
Do we believe Google will get it right? Yes. They have to if they want to play in this new AI landscape.
Otherwise, tools like Perplexity will continue to thrive in the open model world.

🤖 Meta’s New Wearable
This is not really AI related, but this is super cool.
Meta is working on a new interface that maps signals from the brain and passes them to your wrist.
The technology is designed to be highly personalizable and adaptable to many situations. It can detect finger motion as small as one millimeter, which means that input can be effortless and potentially very precise.
Initially, EMG will provide simple controls, such as a "click" equivalent to tapping on a button. Still, the technology is expected to progress to richer controls, including the ability to type at high speed on a virtual keyboard or interact with virtual objects in augmented reality (AR).
