ChatGPT Is Now an App Store

The Recap: OpenAI's its DevDay event just transformed ChatGPT from a conversational AI into a full-fledged interactive platform. The latest updates allow you to build, use, and integrate apps and complex AI agents directly within the chat interface.

Unpacked:

•  You can now embed and interact with apps like Canva, Spotify, and Zillow without leaving your conversation using the new Apps SDK. This allows for a seamless workflow where you can call on external tools directly inside ChatGPT.

• A new toolkit called AgentKit provides a visual, no-code builder for creating complex, multi-agent systems. This dramatically simplifies the process of designing and deploying custom AI workflows for specific tasks.

• The AI coding agent, GPT-5-Codex, is now generally available and was used to write 80% of the new Agent Builder tool in under six weeks, showcasing a powerful new era of AI building its own tools.

Bottom line: OpenAI is strategically shifting ChatGPT from a standalone product into a foundational ecosystem, much like an operating system or app store. This move significantly lowers the barrier for creating advanced AI applications, empowering both developers and non-technical creators to build the next wave of AI-native tools.

OpenAI's AI Builds Its Own Tools

The Recap: At its recent DevDay event, OpenAI revealed its AI coding agent, Codex, is building the company's next generation of products, writing 80% of the code for the new Agent Builder tool.

Unpacked:

• Internal adoption has soared, with 92% of OpenAI's engineers now using Codex to complete 70% more pull requests each week.

• This new pace is dramatically accelerating development, enabling the team to build the entire drag-and-drop Agent Builder from start to finish in just under six weeks.

• Developers can now access these capabilities through a new SDK and a Slack integration, part of a suite of developer tools that also includes the new no-code AgentKit.

Bottom line: The barrier for creating powerful AI applications is rapidly dissolving. This marks a new phase where the tools are building themselves, setting the stage for an exponential increase in development speed.

MY FAVORITE AI TOOLS

Relevance is my favorite AI tool right now (even more so than N8N).

Here’s why:

It’s an AI agent building tool that doesn’t require you to build out the logic using nodes. Instead, you use natural language to build out these agents. But the best thing imo is that you can build AI Agent teams.

Google's AI Automatically Fixes Code Bugs

The Recap: Google introduced CodeMender, a new AI agent designed to automatically find and fix security vulnerabilities in software code. The tool uses Google's powerful Gemini models to address a critical and time-consuming part of the development process.

Unpacked:

• CodeMender operates as an autonomous agent, proactively identifying and patching complex security vulnerabilities without requiring manual intervention from developers.

• The system is powered by Google's Gemini Deep Think models, which provide the advanced reasoning capabilities needed to understand code context and generate effective fixes.
