OpenAI board members respond to a warning by former members

OpenAI's current board members dispute claims made by former board members Helen Toner and Tasha McCauley regarding events at the company and the circumstances around Sam Altman's departure as CEO. An external review by law firm WilmerHale found no evidence that AI safety concerns necessitated Altman's replacement.

  • The review included interviews with former board members, executives, and advisors, and examined over 30,000 documents.

  • OpenAI's board says Altman has been forthcoming on all relevant issues and collegial with management.

  • The company has formed a new Safety Committee and is making additional AI safety commitments.

Anthropic’s AI now lets you create bots to work for you

Anthropic has launched a new "tool use" feature for its AI chatbot Claude, enabling users to create personalized AI assistants that can automate various tasks by connecting to external APIs.

  • Claude's tool use feature allows the creation of AI assistants for tasks like purchasing products, analyzing emails, or providing customer support.

  • The AI can work with both text and images, enabling applications that process visual data for personalized recommendations.

  • Anthropic has been beta testing the feature with thousands of customers, with pricing based on the volume of text processed by Claude.

OpenAI launches EDU version of ChatGPT

OpenAI has introduced ChatGPT Edu, an affordable version of ChatGPT designed for universities to responsibly deploy AI to students, faculty, researchers, and campus operations. Powered by GPT-4o, it can reason across text and vision and use advanced tools like data analysis.

  • ChatGPT Edu includes enterprise-level security, controls, and significantly higher message limits than the free version.

  • It provides access to GPT-4o, OpenAI's flagship model, and supports advanced capabilities like data analytics, web browsing, document summarization, and building custom GPTs.

  • Several universities, such as Oxford, Wharton, UT Austin, ASU, and Columbia, have already seen success with ChatGPT Enterprise.

How To Create A CustomGPT

First, go to chatgpt.com, and in the left side menu, click explore GPTs.

Then click the Green create button.

From there, you’ll see a new screen that looks like this:

You can give your new GPT a picture, name, and description on this new page.

You’ll want to provide your prompt or instructions for the customGPT to follow in the instructions box.

Once you provide the prompt, you can reuse the GPT instead of prompting from scratch like you normally would.

We are filming a video on this soon, but we figured we would give you a quick rundown!
