Today I read a story that sent chills down my spine.

A 14-year old boy committed suicide because his AI girlfriend told him to.

Some are blaming the parent but to me theres a bigger issue here.

If AI tools are marketed to children then there should be guardrails.

In this case the 14-year old communicated with his AI girlfriend on Character.ai.

The AI girlfriend told the teen he should unalive himself. Now the mother of the teen is suing Character AI.

I don’t think this will be the last story we hear about AI tragedies like this one.

The implications of consumer AI usage are still unseen.

🇷🇺 American creating deepfakes targeting Harris works with Russian intel, documents show

A former FBI informant, Alexander Dougan, has been charged with making false statements about President Biden and his son Hunter Biden, allegedly as part of a Russian disinformation campaign targeting the 2024 election. The Justice Department revealed that Dougan, who had previously worked with the FBI on cybercrime cases, fabricated claims about the Bidens receiving millions in bribes from a Ukrainian energy company. This case highlights the ongoing concerns about Russian interference in U.S. elections and the sophisticated nature of disinformation campaigns.

  • Dougan allegedly met with Russian intelligence officials in 2022 and received directions to spread false information about the Bidens.

🍎 Apple releases new preview of its AI, including ChatGPT integration

The initial rollout will be compatible with iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 16 series, and devices using Apple's A17 Pro and M1 chips or newer. This integration promises a privacy-focused approach, with Apple masking user IP addresses and making ChatGPT accessible without requiring account creation.

  • The system will automatically recognize when Siri needs ChatGPT's assistance and will prompt users before sharing any information.

  • Visual Intelligence allows users to point their camera at objects to instantly receive information like operating hours, reviews, and can even translate signs in real-time.
