OpenAI delays ChatGPT’s new Voice Mode
OpenAI has delayed the launch of ChatGPT's highly anticipated Voice Mode feature until July or later, despite initially planning to roll it out to select users by late June. The company needs more time to refine the model's content detection capabilities and user experience to ensure it can handle real-time responses at scale.
Voice Mode aims to enable more lifelike conversations with ChatGPT, allowing the AI to speak and respond to verbal and non-verbal cues.
The alpha phase will now begin in July with a limited user group to gather feedback before a wider release.
Controversy arose when Voice Mode's voice resembled Scarlett Johansson's without permission, prompting OpenAI to remove the contentious voice.
YouTube Negotiates with Music Labels for AI Training
YouTube is in talks with major music labels to license songs for its AI tools that can generate music mimicking popular artists' styles.
YouTube is offering upfront payments to Sony, Warner, and Universal Music to convince more artists to allow their music to be used for training AI.
The platform aims to sign up dozens of artists and launch a new AI song generator in 2024, separate from its previous "Dream Track" experiment.
Many artists remain opposed to AI-generated music, fearing it could devalue their work, while labels are cautiously exploring AI opportunities.

✨ Is OpenAI All Hype?
We're sharing an update on the advanced Voice Mode we demoed during our Spring Update, which we remain very excited about:
We had planned to start rolling this out in alpha to a small group of ChatGPT Plus users in late June, but need one more month to reach our bar to launch.… x.com/i/web/status/1…

OpenAI showcased its voice model a few months back and caused quite a frenzy. Everyone was excited to try it out as the demo’s made it seem like we were one step closer to living like Iron Man.
But now they are saying they don’t have an ETA on when the voice model will be released…and people are starting to believe that OpenAI is all hype.
Bad idea. The Voice Mode can end up like Sora - lots of cool demos, but without the final product, other companies decided to release something like that earlier.

Biggest rug pull in history.
Many people signed up for Plus with the expectation that voice would be available “in the coming weeks”. You guys knew you didn’t actually have a product but dangled it out there in order to take users’ hard earned money.
You guys are quickly… x.com/i/web/status/1…

Observation: none of the OpenAI "user interface" hype features have stuck
Plugins died, GPT Store died, Voice is delayed, Memory is mediocre
Core model and API are solid
But all the "this changes how people use AI!" hype stuff has bombed.

Let’s face it OpenAI has done this a few times. First, it was with Sora, their AI-video generator tool, and now the Voice model…
Hopefully, they release something mind-blowing soon.
