This AI Is Faster Than ChatGPT

Hi Ai’ers! Welcome back to another issue. The internet has been on fire since OpenAI announced its future release of Sora.

Sora is a new model that will allow users to create videos from a text prompt. The videos that OpenAI has been sharing are amazing. It’s kind of scary how good they are.

You can see more on our Twitter. We have a good one for you today so let’s get into it.

The Hyper-fast AI Tool You Haven’t Heard Of

There is a major shift happening in AI right now and it’s called open source.

Open-source LLMs offer several benefits over their proprietary counterparts like ChatGPT.

They promote transparency and privacy.

Open-source models lead to improvements in the models themselves and in the understanding of how AI works.

This transparency also allows for customization, enabling users to adapt the models to their specific needs or use cases.

Furthermore, the open-source approach fosters innovation by lowering entry barriers for developers worldwide, contributing to a more diverse and vibrant AI research community.

But, deploying and maintaining open-source LLMs can be resource-intensive. Training these models requires significant computational power and data, which can be costly.

Lucky for us we don’t have to train an LLM.

We can use open-source LLM models like Llama 2 or Mistral in apps like Perplexity or Groq.

Today we want to highlight Groq (And no, we are not talking about Elon’s Grok).

Because unlike Perplexity it acts more like ChatGPT.

The difference is the response times are fast.

You will get answers in milliseconds, not seconds.

We timed how fast the responses were compared to Perplexity and ChatGPT.

Here are the results for the question: In what year did the US introduce social security?:

Groq: 0.44s

Perplexity: 10s

ChatGPT: 5s

We wanted to see how fast it could answer a harder question. So we asked Is there a way that I could connect my DSLR to my phone and use my DSLR on my iPhone as the camera?

It took 0.95s.

Groq achieves this speed by building custom chips for AI interfaces they call language processing units (LPUs).

It’s a new type of silicone that is hyper-efficient at running interfaces for LLM’s.

This breakthrough opens up all sorts of possibilities like scanning through thousands of documents which normally would take days could be done in a few hours.

Or use Groq to have instant conversations from human to AI using voice cloning tools like Eleven Labs.

Think sales calls or customer support.

But with speed begs the question, “How Accurate are the responses?”. Yes, it’s cool if we can get answers instantaneously, but if those responses are inaccurate then it's pointless.

Yet, it’s cool that new open-source models and open-source platforms launch and test what’s possible.

Groq is still being tested but you can play around with it here.

AI Background Sounds

🤖 ElevenLabs Teases New Feature

Eleven Labs has announced a new feature launching soon called AI Sound Effects.

This means you’ll be able to upload a video scene and have AI add the background sounds.

This is groundbreaking since in the next few months we’ll be able to use SORA for the video clips and Eleven Labs for the supporting sounds.

This isn’t released yet, but we believe it’s going to be an amazing addition to the AI workflow.
